FAQ’s
What is the first step?
Send me a message to arrange an initial call, this is free of charge and will last about 15/20 minutes, it gives me a chance to ask a few questions about why you are seeking therapy and to see if we will be a good fit, it also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about how I work or the process in general.
What happens next?
If you would like to go ahead and book in an initial session we will arrange a time to meet in person at my therapy room in St Neots or online via video call. In this first session we will talk through the counselling contract and talk about your expectations and desires from the counselling process as well as starting to talk about why you have come to see me.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person, some clients have talked through their situation in 6 weeks and feel ready to finish and others may want to commit long term as a support for their general well being and growth. There is no pressure or expectation for any number of sessions, we will review the process every 6 weeks and decide whether it is beneficial to continue.
When can I have a session?
I have some limited availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays in person at 24 New Street, St Neots. Tuesdays 9.30-5pm and Thursdays 9.30 - 9pm. I work online on Mondays and Wednesdays.
What is your approach?
I am trained predominantly in the Person-centred approach which means I believe that change is possible if you are offered the right environment, the key thing here is the relationship between therapist and client and it is crucial that you feel heard, understood, accepted and trusting. I have also completed further training in a number of areas including attachment theory, IFS and Somatic therapy so may use some of these techniques if useful.
